Special events

The annual Glendale Graveyard supper is planned Saturday, Feb. 2, from 5-7:30 p.m. at Glendale Baptist Church Family Life Center, 151 Church St., Glendale. Chicken stew, salmon stew and vegetable soup with all the trimmings along with desserts and beverages will be served. All donations will go to the graveyard cleaning fund.

Church news

Eastside Baptist Church in Blacksburg will sponsor its second annual Men's Conference Saturday, Feb. 2, from 12-2 p.m. at Blacksburg High School. Admission is $10 for a catered lunch. For information and tickets, call 704-739-3715 or 864-839-4743.

Senior Center events

Cherrill Moshier of Shelby will have an "Introduction to Art" class Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Gaffney Senior Center. Bring your own supplies, whether sketching, painting, chalk, watercolors, oil, canvas, etc., and join others in learning to express you creativity. Classes will continue on the first and third Tuesdays of each month and will be $5 per class. Call Linda, 487-2725, to register.

Support groups

AA meetings are held at 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the building behind Limestone Methodist Church on Carlisle Street. If you have a problem with alcohol, you are welcome to attend.
