Samuel Jackson Childers Samuel Jackson Childers, 92, of 204 Ramseur Drive, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. A native of York, Childers was the husband of Helen Fayssoux Childers and son of the late Benjamin Franklin Childers and Della Laura Hogue White. Childers retired as a plant manager for Duke Energy. He was a member of Buffalo Lodge 202 AFM, a member of the Eastern Star, a Shriner, an elder at the Blacksburg A.R.P. Church and part of the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his wife, Childers is survived by a son, Dr. William Frank Childers of Laurens; two daughters, Ann C. Farris of Gaffney and Jackie C. Goforth of Easley; a brother, Grady Thomas Childers of Grover; two sisters, Lucille Neal of Blacksburg and Ella Mae Moore of Columbia; six grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren. The family will host a receiving of friends on Thursday from 10 a.m. at the Blacksburg A.R.P. Church with the funeral following at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
