Samuel Jackson Childers

Samuel Jackson Childers, 92, of 204 Ramseur Drive, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

A native of York, Childers was the husband of Helen Fayssoux Childers and son of the late Benjamin Franklin Childers and Della Laura Hogue White.

Childers retired as a plant manager for Duke Energy. He was a member of Buffalo Lodge 202 AFM, a member of the Eastern Star, a Shriner, an elder at the Blacksburg A.R.P. Church and part of the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his wife, Childers is survived by a son, Dr. William Frank Childers of Laurens; two daughters, Ann C. Farris of Gaffney and Jackie C. Goforth of Easley; a brother, Grady Thomas Childers of Grover; two sisters, Lucille Neal of Blacksburg and Ella Mae Moore of Columbia; six grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren.

The family will host a receiving of friends on Thursday from 10 a.m. at the Blacksburg A.R.P. Church with the funeral following at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

The family will be at the residence.
