Mafalda (Kitty) Atkins Owner of diesel service company BLACKSBURG - Mafalda (Kitty) Cannady Atkins, 71, of 252 Tribal Road, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at her residence. Born in Clinton, N.C., she was widow of Claude Glenn Atkins and daughter of the late George William Cannady and Kathleen Honeycutt Cannady. She was a graduate of Notre Dame, owner of a diesel service company and also drove an 18-wheeler. She was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are two sons, William Atkins and wife, Cheryl, of Baker, La., and Dale Brock and wife, Kathy; a daughter, Alice K. Pritchard and husband, Ken, of Portsmith, Va.; two brothers, George William Cannady of Witchita, Kansas, and Willy Cannady of Warsaw, N.C.; a sister, Dalmada Smith of Virginia; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held today at 7:30 p.m. at Church of Christ Ministries in Clinton, N.C., with Brother Larry Stancil conducting the service. Family members are at their respective homes.
