Woman accused of giving meds via feeding tube to Peachtree resident Gaffney Police filed a warrant against a 54-year-old woman who allegedly gave additional medication without prescription to a relative who is a patient at the Peachtree Centre nursing facility. The warrant accuses Rosemary Turney Phillips of distribution of a controlled substance. Police allege she gave additional medication to her relative via a feeding tube without prescription on Jan. 28. Break-ins reported Gaffney Police and Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the following break-ins or attempted breakins of vehicles in recent days: A thief attempted to gain entry into a truck between last Monday night and Tuesday morning while it was parked outside a Winslow Avenue motel. The white Ford F-250 belonging to a Lancaster man sustained about $400 in damage to a lock and door handle but nothing appeared missing. An SUV parked at Prime Outlets - Gaffney was broken into last Wednesday afternoon between 3:20 and 3:45. The thief or thieves popped a door lock on a 2003 Ford Expedition owned by a Charlotte, N.C., man and stole an IBM laptop computer, model T-60, contained in a black bag. Also stolen was a Verizon Blackberry cellular phone. Theft losses and damage are estimated at $2,375. A 2001 Chevrolet truck was the target of an attempted break-in at Prime Outlets - Gaffney last Wednesday afternoon between 3 and 3:45. The Mauldin resident who owns the vehicle found someone attempted to break the lock on his truck. No entry was made but the damage was estimated at $150. Electronics stolen A company's work truck parked outside a Nancy Creek Road hotel was targeted by a thief or thieves who stole $500 in electronics and $600 in hand tools, according to Gaffney police. The incident happened between 8 p.m. Thursday evening and some time Friday morning. The truck is owned by a Marietta, Ga., engineering company. Police said it was unclear how the items were taken. Ouch, that hurts The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported a 52- year-old Cowpens man accidentally shot himself last Tuesday night. Police didn't say how the incident occurred on Crenshaw Road. The man sustained a single gunshot wound to his arm from a 9 mm pistol. Tip jar stolen Two females in a car with a Kentucky license plate stole a tip jar while going through the drive-through at the Starbuck's on Lemmons Lane in Gaffney. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the theft occurred at about 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. There was about $10 in cash in the jar. The coffee shop was able to provide police with a license plate number. Homes burglarized Thieves broke into three homes recently, including two on the same street. A home on Euphra Drive, Gaffney, was broken into sometime between Jan. 29 and Feb. 5, and the burglar(s) stole a $400 television, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. The break-in was discovered Feb. 5 by a neighbor, who observed a broken window and an open door at the home. A home on South Johnson Street in Gaffney also was the target of a burglar, according to Gaffney police. Sometime between 8:45 p.m. and 9:05 p.m. on Wednesday, an unknown person gained entry to a South Johnson Street home and stole a Playstation 3 game console, three Playstation 3 controllers and three video games. Theft losses are estimated at $990. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported a second home on Euphra Drive was entered Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. The thief or thieves entered through a window and stole a singleshot 12-gauge shotgun and a single-shot .410-gauge shotgun. The make and serial numbers of the shotguns, valued at about $200, were unknown. Employees charged An employee of the Bass Outlet store at the Prime Outlets - Gaffney, was accused of breach of trust last week for the alleged theft of more than $5,000 in merchandise and cash. Altogether, according to a police complaint made by a store official, the Bass outlet had lost an estimated $1,532 in cash and $12,800 in clothing between Jan. 7, 2007 and Feb. 4, 2008. The complaint led Gaffney Police to file an arrest warrant for Deandre Latrayl Roberts, 29, of West Frederick Street on a charge of breach of trust. Officer J.R. Sizemore recorded the initial complaint. Detective David Clary filed the arrest warrant. A second Bass employee was also charged with breach of trust. Twenty-two-year-old Tanisha Shiree Martin, of Gaffney, allegedly took merchandise valued at less than $1,000 while employed at the Bass Outlet. A warrant filed against her alleges the merchandise was taken between Jan. 1, 2007 and Feb. 4, 2008. |
