Margaret Pridmore Melton, 90, of 301 Oakland Ave., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at her home.

Born in Cherokee County, she was wife of Vernon Melton and daughter of the late Thomas Hugh Pridmore and Ruby Lee Pridmore. Mrs. Melton was retired owner of Margaret's Flower Shop in Blacksburg and was a member of West End Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Wayne P. Higgins of Blacksburg; a granddaughter, Beth Higgins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Lee Pridmore and Shell Pridmore, and two sisters, Agnes Pridmore and Hazel Pridmore.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1-2 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Dr. Jim McClure. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cherokee County Public Library, 300 E. Rutledge Ave., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.
