Here's your chance to be on the 'Warpath' at new stadium
By SCOTT POWELL Ledger Staff Writer spowell@gaffneyledger.com

Former Gaffney High football players and alumni can leave their mark at the new stadium by becoming a part of the warpath.

The Block 'G' Club for varsity athletes has been taking orders for engraved bricks at the stadium since January. People can have the bricks engraved in memory of a loved one or can choose to show their support for a specific academic program. The bricks will be placed in a 'Warpath' walkway that will extend parallel to the Gaffney High football stadium.

A $100 donation will allow fans to purchase a 4 x 10 brick with three lines of text. A $200 donation buys an 8 inch by 8 inch brick with six lines of type.

The first brick orders for the 'Warpath' will be made in the next couple of weeks, said Gaffney High teacher Ben Fuller, sponsor of the Block 'G' Club. All proceeds from the fundraiser project will go to support the athletic programs.

"We decided to do this fundraiser as a way to raise money on an ongoing basis to supplement our athletic programs," Fuller said. "We thought this would be a good project to do with the opening of the new stadium. This would be a great idea for past players and general alumni to leave a mark at the school."

The masonry project will be done separately from the regular stadium construction project, Fuller said. Bricks will be installed twice a year along the walkway.

Once enough funds are raised, Fuller said the athletic department plans to purchase a Speed Station Pro Unit from the company "Speed to Win." This is a speed training machine that can be used by a maximum of 75 athletes at one time.

"New projects will be determined as needed," Fuller said. "Please know that all donations will go to support Gaffney High School athletics."

Forms for the brick fundraiser can be obtained from the Gaffney High School main office and the school's Web site.
