Floyd ("June") Ross Jr., 81, formerly of 784 Old Chester Road, Blacksburg, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at 10:02 a.m. at Brookview HealthCare Center, 510
Thompson St.
A native of Blacksburg, he was the husband of Vera Foster Ross, who resides at Brookview
Health-
Care, and son of the late Floyd Ross Sr. and the late Lois Fullenwider Ross. He helped to rear his stepchildren, Martha Gibbs, and Yvonne, Robert, Pearl, Noble and James Foster.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ross was preceded in death by three stepchildren, Robert Foster, Pearl Foster and Noble Foster; three brothers, M.C. Ross, Jay Ross and Willie E. Ross; two stepsisters, Vera West Dyer and Jessie West Sutton; and a stepbrother, Ulysses West.
Mr. Ross was a member of Concord Baptist Church and was retired from Borders Clay in Blacksburg.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two stepdaughters, Martha Gibbs of Charlotte and Yvonne Foster of Gaffney; a step-granddaughter who was reared in the home as a daughter, Lisa Diane Foster of Blacksburg; two brothers, W.T. Ross of Blacksburg and Dwight Ross of Myrtle Beach; four sisters, Eula Mae Thomas, Loretta Roland, Essie Ross, all of Blacksburg, and Lessie McSwain of Shelby; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Michael Bridges, the Rev. Dennis Funderburk and Bishop Eddie Lockhart. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
The family is at the home of his granddaughter, Lisa Foster, 784 Old Chester Road, Blacksburg, and at the home of his sister, Essie Ross, 775 Old Chester Road, Blacksburg.
