Piedmont Blood Center to have blood drive Feb. 29 at Wal-Mart The Piedmont Blood Center will hold a community blood drive at Wal-Mart on Floyd Baker Boulevard Friday, Feb. 29, from 2-8 p.m. At this time of the year, blood donations are lower due to donors having colds, flu and respiratory problems. Blood supplies desperately need to be built up. Piedmont Blood Center is the sole provider of blood for local hospitals - Upstate Carolina Medical Center, Wallace Thompson Hospital, Mary Black Memorial Hospital and Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Donating blood is one of the easiest ways to help your fellow man - it is the gift of life. Blood lasts 42 days but the blood supply isn't large enough to last that long. Blood is usually used within three days or less. |
