Fund raisers

¦ Rock Springs Baptist Church on Bridges Road in Blacksburg will have a hot dog supper and auction Saturday, Feb. 23, beginning at 5 p.m. The auction will include a dining table and chairs, exercise equipment, sports memorabilia from Clemson signed by Danny Ford, and many other items. Money raised will go the church's new Life Center.

Meetings

¦ The Blacksburg Business Association and Iron City Festival Committee will meet Thursday, Feb. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the Community House on South Shelby Street. The meeting is open to the public. Anyone who has ideas for the Iron City Festival to be held April 18- 19 are welcome to attend. Contact blacksburgbba7@ yahoo.com.

¦ The Kiwanis of Club of Gaffney meets the first and third Monday each month at The Lighthouse Restaurant on Floyd Baker Blvd. Prospective members are welcome, and dinner will be provided by Gaffney Kiwanis. For information about Gaffney Kiwanis, attend a meeting or call 864-489- 4531.

¦ Moses Wood Camp No. 125, Sons of Confederate Veterans will hold its annual business meeting Thursday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. at its new location, 1746 N. Limestone St. All members are urged to attend.

Special programs

¦ The Cherokee County Public Library will have computer classes in March for people age 55 and over. The one-session classes offer basic instruction and hands-on learning. Classes are limited to eight students per class; registration will continue until classes are filled. The schedule is: Wednesday, March 12, and Wednesday, March 19, "Computer Basics," 1-3 p.m.; Wednesday, March 26, "Introduction to E-mail," 10- 11 a.m.; Wednesday, March 26, "Introduction to E-mail," 1-2 p.m. Register at the library or call 864-487-2711.

¦ The Kings Mountain LEC is hosting a six-week conference for caregivers themed "Powerful Tools." A light supper and a 230-page caregiver helpbook is included in the $15 cost. Nancy Abasiekong and Nell Crosby of AARP are the instructors. The conference is sponsored by the North Carolina Family Caregiver Support Program, AARP, North Carolina Cooperative Extension Office and Life Enrichment Center. ¦ Blacksburg VFW Post 4941 and its Ladies Auxiliary will have their monthly meeting Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the meting. All Post and Auxiliary members are urged to attend

¦ AA meetings are held at 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the building behind Limestone Methodist Church on Carlisle Street.
