By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Staff Writer larry@gaffneyledger.com

Wayne Ramsey intends to seek another term on Gaffney City Council.

"I enjoy it and I still think we have a lot to do," said Ramsey, who will be seeking his third term representing District 1.

Dennis Ramsey and Billy Love, the two other incumbents on council, have said they will seek re-election.

Candidates can begin filing for the general election May 30 according to the election calendar approved by the Gaffney Election Commission on Friday.

Mayor Henry Jolly is also up for re-election but has not yet announced his intentions.

The 2-week filing period for council and mayor ends June 13, just less than two months before the election Tuesday, Aug. 12. If necessary, runoff elections would be held Tuesday, Aug. 26.

The election commission also oversees the Gaffney Board of Public Works commission elections. Candidates can begin submitting their petitions for the commission seats at noon on May 15. That 2-week filing period concludes on May 28 at noon.

This time around, District 1 commissioner Joe Dean Knuckles and District 3 commissioner Elijah Inabinette will be on the ballot.
