Gaffney Police looking into shooting incidents Gaffney Police are investigating two shooting incidents Monday night that might have been gang related. The first incident occurred between 7:30 and 7:34 p.m. when three men in a small red car fired gunshots at a man at the Beech Street and East Robinson Street intersection. Moments later, between 7:34 p.m. and 7:41 p.m., police believe the same men fired shots at a man who was driving near Colonial Avenue and New Street. No one was injured, police reported, though the victim's car in the second incident sustained an estimated $300 in damage. Both victims were able to give police possible identities of the three suspects, and both identified the same man as having fired the shots. No arrests had been reported as of Tuesday afternoon. The victim in the first incident collected three spent shell casings from a 9mm handgun in the street and turned them over to police. .. A Kings Mountain company sustained an estimated $30,000 in damages over the weekend when someone vandalized and stripped parts from a Caterpillar-brand track loader parked at a Lookout Tower road construction site. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported someone cut the wiring and almost all of the electronic equipment from the machinery. The Caterpillar track loader is owned by Randle Brothers in Kings Mountain. .. Two companies working on an Allison Drive construction site reported the thefts of more than $4,000 in equipment and building supplies. Sometime between Friday and Monday, according to Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reports, someone stole at least 340 feet of copper pipe, six electrical drop cords ranging from 50 to 100 feet in length, as well as two propane heaters and Milwaukee-brand power tools from the job site. Sossamon Construction, which lost about $3,500 in copper pipe and equipment, had already installed the copper pipe at the time of the thefts. The items belonging to Mathis Plumbing and Heating, valued at about $850, were taken from a job site trailer which someone broke into by cutting the locks, police said. |
