Richard Poole

Richard Allen Poole, 66, of 1072 Hamrick St., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Mary Sue McAbee Poole and son of the late Marshall William Poole and Margaret Elizabeth Kirby Poole. He was formerly employed by Oxford Industries and Upstate Carolina Medical Center and was a member of Turning Point Church, where he was a member of the financial committee.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Brandon (Brad) D. Poole of the home; a foster daughter, Carrie Guledge; two foster grandchildren, Devin Guledge and Jade Guledge; two nieces, Katherine McAbee of Gaffney and Shirley Gulbranson of Watertown, Wisc.; a nephew, Terry Hester of Gaffney; and a sister, Shirley Hester of Jersey City, N.J.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Poole was preceded in death by a son, Richard Eric (Fruit Loop) Poole.

The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Revs. Mitchell Phelps and Joe Crawford. Interment will be Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home of Mary Ruth Robinson, 402 Chatham Ave.
