W. Y. (Dub) Moss Retired from Magnolia Finishing Company BLACKSBURG - W.Y. (Dub) Moss, 79, of 1772 W. Cherokee St., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Cherokee County, he was the husband of Carolyn Thompson Moss and son of the late George W. Moss and Pampi Smith Moss. Mr. Moss was retired from Magnolia Finishing Company and was one of the founders of Little League football in Blacksburg. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Robert Moss and wife, Sonya, of Gaffney; two daughters, Kathy Moss and Debbie Moss, both of the home; a sister, Elma Moss of Blacksburg; and two grandchildren, Tyler Moss of Gaffney and Brittany Moss Leazer and husband, Michael, of Marietta, Ga. In addition to his parents, Mr. Moss was preceded in death by three brothers, K.W. Moss, A.W. Moss and Osbourne Moss, and two sisters, Nancy Lipscomb and Winfred Fortenberry. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Lester Haney. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, S.C. 29342. The family is at the home.
