Northwest, B.D. Lee elementary the schools that would be affected The school district will open a 6-classroom addition at Goucher Elementary this year. Auton said she thinks attendance lines should be revisited periodically to address overcrowding and transportation issues in schools. "We could reduce overcrowding in schools along the Highway 29 corridor by making a few adjustments in our attendance lines," Auton said. "We could save money on transportation costs. There are students being bused 15 miles past Goucher Elementary to attend Northwest Elementary. In some cases, these students live within five miles of Goucher Elementary." Ohio consultant DeJong and Associates was paid $42,600 by the district to redraw attendance lines for the 1998 opening of Limestone-Central, Grassy Pond and Northwest elementaries. The school board made only made minor changes in the school attendance lines in 1998. No changes have been made in the attendance lines since. |
