Susan Hines Mason, 44, a loving wife, mother and daughter of 303 Margaret Ave., passed away after an eight-year battle with breast cancer on Sunday, Feb.24, 2008, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.

Born in Rutherfordton, N.C, she was the wife of Robert Mason and daughter of Max and Bonnie Hines. She was a former office manager for Interim Healthcare and was a volunteer for Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Mason was a member of Buford Street United Methodist Church and a former member of Midway Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are a son, Michael Cromer of the home; a daughter, Olivia Cromer, also of the home; two step-sons, Brad Mason of Boone, N.C., and Trent Mason of Hilton Head; and a brother, Scott Hines and wife, Margaret of Greenwood.

Services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Buford Street United Methodist Church with the Revs. Scott Wachter and Vernon Craig officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

The family will be at the residence, 303 Margaret Ave., and at the home of her parents, Max and Bonnie Hines, 158 Twin Bridge Road.
