John E. Ward

Once employed by former

Western Auto in Cowpens

COWPENS - John Earl Ward, I, 69, of 118 Poplar St., died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, in Spartanburg Regional Hospice House.

Born in Greenville, Mr. Ward was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Grace Alieen Fuller Ward. He was once employed by the former Western Auto in Cowpens and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his son, John Earl Ward II of Cowpens; his daughter, Tracy Wright of Spartanburg, three sisters, Ruth Ruppe of Gaffney, Margaret Massey and Bertha Childers, both of Cowpens; a brother, Joe Ward of Wellford; two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ward was preceded in death by two brothers, Olin D. Ward and William Ward, and a sister, Addie Mae Evans.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Shuford Hatcher Funeral Home at Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Powell. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m., immediately preceding the service. Interment will be in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens in Cowpens.

The family is at the home, 188 Poplar St.
