Jeannie Marie Huskey Wood, 97, of 108 Yale St., died Sunday morning, Feb. 24, 2008, at Peachtree Centre in Gaffney.

Widow of Connington Wood, she was born in Cherokee County, a daughter of the late Claude and Ollie Huskey. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she served as deaconess, Mother of the Church and missionary.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three children, Shirley W. Lipsey, James Wood and Connington Wood; and siblings, Hettie Byers, West Huskey, Monroe Huskey and Fred Huskey.

Surviving are a daughter, Daisy "Dee" Wood of Mableton, Ga.; a sister, Ettie Mae Montgomery of Charlotte, N.C.; sister-in-law, Cleo Huskey; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Youngs Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
