'Mulligan's Banned'will heat up the evening with show March 14
Duo's performance a prelude to city's March 15 'Irishfest 2008'
Fred Lail and Billy Mulligan, the two musicians who form "Mulligan's Banned," will bring a mix of traditional Irish and folk-rock music to a stage set up in front of the Michael Gaffney log cabin on Friday, March 14, at 6 p.m. The free show, sponsored by the City of Gaffney, is a prelude to the city's Irishfest 2008 celebration on Saturday, March 15.
Lail injects his performances with humor and wit. He and his various groups have opened for Bill Monroe, Jimmy Buffet, the Scottish group "Capercaille" and the legendary Irish band, "The Chieftains."
Describing his unique Irish fiddling style, Lail simply says, "I believe that my heart is in the right place - I just hope that my fingers are!"
Mulligan is well known on the college, festival and nightclub circuit, bringing a special blend of folk-rock, Irish and original tunes to audiences up and down the East Coast. He has performed in New York City at Rosie O'Grady's, Paddy Reilly's, Tramps and The Metro Club in addition to many other venues. He has presented shows at Columbia University and other colleges and universities in New York, at the Mansion House in Dublin, Ireland, and regionally at many clubs, colleges and universities including Appalachian State, UNCC, Winthrop, the Blockbuster Pavilion, The Double Door, McCoul's and The Celtic Café.
