AAUW's March program on personal safety for women will be open to public The Gaffney Branch of the American Association of University Women will meet Monday, March 10, at 7 p.m. in the Cherokee County History Museum and Fine Arts Center, 301 S. Johnson St. Speaker for the meeting will be Audrey Jolly, Gaffney police officer and resource officer at Ewing Middle School. Her topic will be personal safety for women, another of AAUW's focus on women programs that is open to the public. Officer Jolly, originally from New York, has lived in Gaffney for seven years. She says that she was one of the youngest black leaders in her New York community and often presented programs to groups dealing with safety tips for women. The Gaffney Branch's annual business session is held during the March meeting and the slate of officers for the next two years will be presented by the nominating committee. Meeting coordinators are Frances Smith and Naomi Stanley. AAUW's main emphasis has always been education and equity for women. The Gaffney Branch has contributed to this effort in many community endeavors. The branch encourages women through its annual gifts to AAUW's fellowship fund. Anyone with either an associate or a baccalaureate degree is eligible for membership in AAUW.
