The Gaffney High softball team hardly broke a sweat in a season-opening 24-1 win over Spartanburg on Monday.
Courtney Campbell, Julie Sarratt and Cameron Crocker all hit inside the park homers for the Indians, who scored three runs in the first and added five more in the second and third innings.
"It was a good way to start the region," Gaffney coach Kelly Ellis said. "Spartanburg is struggling a bit but it's a good win."
Sarratt and Campbell combined on a three hitter. They also struck out 11.
"They pitched well," Ellis said. "They were able to overpower the hitters."
Gaffney added three more runs in the third and capped its scoring with an 8-run explosion in the fourth inning.
Sarratt knocked in five runs, while Crocker had 4 RBIs. Lana Ward and Campbell each had 2 RBIs.
Gaffney's game against Boiling Springs was postponed Tuesday due to heavy thunderstorms.
The game will be made up on Monday, March 17.
The Lady Indians travel to Broome today.
