Fund raisers

You can enjoy homemade vegetable soup and help local charities while on your lunch hour Thursday, March 13. Altrusa of Gaffney will be serving vegetable soup, cornbread, dessert and tea at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation on College Drive from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Cost is $5. All proceeds will be donated to local charities. Take-out will be available.

Events for seniors

The Appalachia Aging and Disability Resource Center and the Lt. Gov's Office on Aging will present "Planning for Your Long-Term Care Needs" at the Gaffney Senior, 499 W. Rutledge Ave., on Thursday, March 13, from 1-3 p.m. Topics to be covered include understanding, planning and paying for long-term care; financing options and long-term care insurance; Medicaid eligibility; and legal issues (powers of attorney, wills, advanced directives, etc.) There is no charge to attend the workshop but register by calling Joan Wood, 487-2725 or 864-242-9733.
