New York company purchases former Falls River Manufacturing plant

The former Falls River Manufacturing facility wasn't on the market for long.

Plumbing supply distributor SVG/Giagni Enterprises of New York has purchased the 34,000- square foot building on Huntington Drive for $665,000, said The Lyons Group President Bobby Lyons, who represented Falls River Manufacturing, Inc.

SVG/Giagni Enterprises plans to employ about 20 workers, Lyons said.

"They are in the process of getting the phone system in and buying office furniture," Lyons said. "They should be up and running in 30 days."

A French textile company, Mermet, had been leasing the building from Falls River Manufacturing, Lyons said. That 3-year lease expired in December.

SVG/Giagni Enterprises will utilize the building as a warehouse and distribution center of cabinet hardware and plumbing fixtures for the country's major home improvement retailers, including Lowe's and Home Depot.

Lyons said the property was closed on last week.
