Francis Myers

Francis (Fran) Samuel Myers, 83, a loving husband, father, grandfather, greatfather and a friend to many, of 2245 Corinth Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at his residence.

Born in Salem, New Jersey, he was the husband of 65 years to Edna Hargrove Myers and the son of the late Edward Forest Myers and Beatrice Fenton Myers.

Mr. Myers was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, having served in the Philippines and Japan during WWII.

He was retired from Ryder Trucking Company as a master mechanic, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for twelve years and a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, also surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Newton of Gaffney and Bobbi Price of the residence; five grandchildren, Kim Jennings, Lew Morrow Jr., Sean Mooney and wife, Michelle , Shane Mooney and Lorrena Newton; five greatgrandchildren, Josh Jennings, Lexa Jennings, Noah Holcomb, Chase Mooney and Ridge Mooney.

Mr. Myers was preceded in death by a sister, Iris Johnson.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Blakely Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Rehoboth Baptist Church with Rev. Robert White and Dr. Jim McClure officiating.

Interment will be in El Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be at the residence.
