Vikings beat

Gaffney, 10-0

In varsity boys soccer action, Spartanburg defeated a shorthanded Gaffney High team, 10-0 on Monday. The Indians played without two starters, who missed the game due to an illness.

Saints thump

St. Leo, 14-5

Limestone's Brendan Storrier scored four goals and dished out five assists in Limestone's 14-5 win against Saint Leo University on Tuesday afternoon at Saints Field.

The Saints climb to 5-0 while the Lions fall to 4-2.

Jake Rogalia also scored four goals for Limestone, while Justin Haworth and Brock Spilker both scored twice.

A.J. Vaughn and Sam Buppert each recorded one goal.

Vaughn also dished out two assists. Haworth, Greg Kacinko and Teddy Prage also had assists.

Saint goalkeeper James Tuohy

had 13 saves.

Local Gamecock Club

meeting April 8

The Spartanburg-Cherokee- Greenville Gamecock clubs will hold its spring meeting at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium Tuesday, April 8, with dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. and the program starting at 7 p.m. The guest speakers will be Steve Spurrier and administrative staff. Tickets are now on sale for $20 each and must be purchased by April 3.

Francis Marion

downs Saints

Francis Marion, ranked No. 15 in the latest NCAA Division II baseball poll, defeated Limestone College 15-5 on Tuesday afternoon at Saints Field.

The Patriots improve to 18-7 while Limestone stands at 13-12.

Ed Paul struck out two strikeouts and allowed 11 hits to get the win.

Josh Joseph took the loss, giving up seven earned runs in the first 3 2/3 innings.

Limestone's Justin Moore and Josh Izokovic were both 2-3 at bat. Adam McSwain was 2-5, while Izokovic and Drew Lydon hit doubles and Phillip Soden hit a triple.

edge Spartanburg

The Gaffney junior varsity golf team defeated Spartanburg 167-170 on Tuesday.

Gaffney's Cabrick Waters was the medalist with a 38.

Gaffney's Trey Taylor shot a 40, while Conner Chitty had a 44 and David Hopper shot a 45.

"I'm really proud with how well the guys played despite the weather and wind. We're playing pretty good right now but we still need to work on our putting. We are missing too many close ones that could cost us down the road," Gaffney coach Dustin Kite said.

Gaffney travels to Broome on Thursday.

Panther rookie

charged with DWI

Carolina Panthers receiver Dwayne Jarrett's difficult rookie season on the field has given way to problems off it.

Jarrett, in town for the start of the team's offseason conditioning program, was arrested early Tuesday and charged with driving while impaired.
