Report: Boy, 10, brings kitchen knife to school Police and the Cherokee County School District are investigating a Thursday incident in which a 10- year-old child at Limestone Central Elementary brought a kitchen knife to school. According to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the boy was searched after arriving at school Thursday morning and the knife was found in his backpack. An officer who spoke to the young boy wrote in a report that the boy brought the knife with him because he had received a threat other children were going to gang up on him on the school bus. Limestone Central Principal Clay Fowler said Friday he could not discuss the incident directly. "We are and will follow board policy as far as any disciplinary action is concerned," he said. Under school policy, school administrators have several options in cases involving weapons brought to school. Sanctions can include out-of-school suspension, assignment to an alternative school or expulsion. Additional information about the boy's fate wasn't immediately available. |
