Dorman thumps Indians, 7-2 The Gaffney Indians have a big hole in their bats these days. The Indians had just five hits in dropping to 0-3 in the region with a 7-2 loss to visiting Dorman on Friday. Gaffney mustered just four hits and one run in its two other region losses. Gaffney batters also have struggled to make contact, striking out more than 25 times in those losses. It was more of the same against Cavalier starter Sloan Gilliam, who struck out five and allowed no earned runs in six innings of work. Bobby Jackson took the loss but he was victimized by three Gaffney errors. Cameron Culp relieved Jackson. The Cavaliers jumped on top with two runs in the first before the Indians answered with a run in the bottom of the second on Bubba Wright's fielder's choice. Dorman went on top 3-1 in the third and extended its lead with two more runs in the fourth inning. The Cavaliers scored their final two runs in the sixth. The Indians scored a run in the seventh on an RBI by Jackson. Dylan Jolley had two hits, including a triple for the Indians. Josh Mata also hit safely for Gaffney. Will Muzika, Kyle Caldwell and Dylan Cole each had two hits for the Cavaliers, who improve to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in region play. T.J. Young and Cole also had knocked in a pair of runs for the Cavaliers. Gaffney travels to Hillcrest on Tuesday. |
