GHS students exceed state average
57.5 percent pass Advanced Placement exams

      Nearly 60 percent of Gaffney High students taking Advanced Placement (AP) classes passed exams for college credit in 2007. Gaffney High had an average passing rate of 57.5 percent on the 11 AP exams offered this past school year. The state average was 57.1 percent.

16-year-old bike rider hit by car Sunday
      A 16-year-old juvenile suffered a head injury Sunday at noon when he was hit by a car while riding a moped on Railroad Avenue. Jarrett Blanton, of 207 Walnut Street, was traveling east on Railroad Avenue when he attempted to make a left turn onto Third Street.

Jury selected to hear sex assault trial

      A jury of seven men and five women was selected Tuesday afternoon in Cherokee County General Sessions Court to hear allegations a Texas man sexually assaulted two young girls while he lived in Blacksburg from 1999 to 2003.
