Peeler, Moss and Stacy among first candidates

Borrowing from Hank Williams and his famous football theme song, are you ready for a rematch?

Businessman Danny Stacy apparently is ready. Stacy, a Republican who lost a hotly contested election for the State House 29 seat to Democrat Dennis Moss in 2006, was one of a number of candidates who filed this week for election. The 2-week filing period opened Sunday.

Neither Moss, who officially filed today to seek reelection, nor Stacy, are expected to have any opposition in their respective parties.

State Sen. Harvey Peeler (R-Gaffney) filed for reelection Monday for his District 14 seat.

On the Democrat side, longtime State House District 30 member Olin Phillips and incumbent Cherokee County Councilmen Tim Spencer (District 4) and Hoke Parris (District 6) filed with party leaders Monday.

The filing period will end Sunday, March 30. Republicans can file at party headquarters while Democrats can file by making an appointment with party chairman Gayle Phillips or State Executive Committeeman Henry Jolly.
