Retired from textile industry

James Hester McDaniel, 82, of 503 Marietta St., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Margaret Pierce McDaniel and son of the late James Columbus McDaniel and Ola Blanton McDaniel. Mr. McDaniel was retired from the textile industry and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, James David (Jimmy) McDaniel and wife, Tonya, of Cowpens; two daughters, Ann Robbins and husband, Terry, of Gaffney and Cathy Duckett of Mooresville, N.C.; a brother, Henry McDaniel of Gaffney; a sister, Faye Collins of Gaffney; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McDaniel was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Lee Waters.

Services will be held Saturday, March 22, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Terry Pleasant and David Robbins. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 21, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.
