Woman drives off with man's wallet, phone A Tennessee man getting a ride from a Boiling Springs woman was left without a wallet and cell phone when he was ditched at an I-85 rest area in Cherokee County, according to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. The 25-year-old man said he stopped at the rest stop for a bathroom break and that the woman drove away and left him there after he walked inside. He told police his wallet, containing $120, a driver's license, Social Security card, a birth certificate and two debit cards, as well as an AT&T cell phone, were inside the car. The man's losses were estimated at about $180. The man could only provide police with the woman's first name and an approximate age. She was driving a white Subaru, according to the police report. House damaged A home and shed on Providence Road sustained more than $2,000 in damage when a burglar or burglars broke into them to steal copper, according to Gaffney police. The homeowner first noticed the break-in of the shed and found the rear door of the home had been kicked open. After police were called and the home's interior had been cleared, police said it was discovered that the burglar or burglars had removed portions of an interior wall to access copper pipe and wire and removed the ceiling in the home's basement to get out more copper. At least $900 in copper was stolen and the home and shed sustained more than $1,300 in damage, according to the police. Brother accuses brother The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a March 19 incident in which two brothers got into a fight that escalated into a possible assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. According to the police report, a 43-year-old resident of East Junior High Road said he became involved in an argument with his 55-year-old brother and that his brother attacked him with a cutting blade. Police said the 43-yearold man had cuts on his fingers. No charges had been reported as of Friday. |
