A blood drive for Wesley Stutts will be held Saturday, April 5, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the parking lot at Fred's Discount, 110 Wilkinsville Hwy.

Classmates of Jarrett Nicklas Blanton will sponsor a fundraiser Saturday at 2 p.m. at Westlane Bowl. Each participant will bowl three games, do a pledge sheet and then go out to collect the money that will be given to Jarrett's family.

Special events

The Blacksburg Public Library will show a movie based on the book Ratatouille on Thursday, April 10, at 1 p.m. In one of Paris' finest restaurants, a determined young rat dreams of becoming a renowned French chef. Torn between his family's wishes and his true calling, Remy and his pal Linguini set in motion a chain of events that turns the city upside down. Free refreshments will be served.

Meetings

The Tuesday Woman's Club will meet April 8 at 4 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Sidney Gosnell. Co-hostesses are Mrs. Ed Oliver and Mrs. George Morgan.

Democratic Women will meet Monday, April 7, at 6 p.m. at House of Pizza.

The Kiwanis of Club of Gaffney meets the first and third Monday each month at The Lighthouse Restaurant on Floyd Baker Boulevard. Prospective members are welcome, and dinner will be provided by Gaffney Kiwanis. For information about Gaffney Kiwanis, call 864-489- 4531, or attend a meeting.

CAVA program

The Cherokee County Alliance of Visual Artists, 301 N. Limestone St., will offer beginning water color classes this month. The class scheduled includes: April 8, Beginning Watercolor No. 1; April 15, Beginning Watercolor No. 2.; April 22, Watercolor pencils; and April 29, Watercolor greeting cards. Cindy Wilson is the instructor. Supplies are $4 per class. Register by calling 489-9119. All sessions will be held from 3-4:30 p.m. All classes are open to the public.

Gospel singing

A gospel singing will be held Saturday, April 5, at 7 p.m. at the Chesnee Music Center featuring 2 for 1. For more information, call 828-202-5603.

A gospel singing will be held Saturday, April 5, at 7 p.m. at Ledford Grove Baptist Church featuring Tony Burchette. Burchette will also be singing Sunday, April 6, at 11 a.m. at East Lincoln Baptist Church.

Notices

Iron City Ministries in Blacksburg will be closed Friday, April 11, and reopen Monday, April 14. The ministry will also be closed Thursday, April 17, and Friday, April 18, and will reopen Monday, April 21. The normal operating scheduled is Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until noon.

Special events

The Hickory Grove Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor its annual hash and barbecue sale and antique tractor show Saturday, April 5, from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Hickory Grove Park on Wylie Avenue. There will be craft and bake sales, yard sales and much more. Refreshments include sausage biscuits, hash and barbecue, hot dogs and hamburgers. Church news

The male chorus of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church will have its annual singing program Saturday, April 5, at 6 p.m. There will be various groups from around the area attending.

A huge yard sale/hot dog sale will be held Saturday, April 5, beginning at 7 a.m. at New Hharvest Church of God, 120 Boiling Springs Hwy. For more information, call 489-2113.

Annual spring revival services will be held April 7-9 at 7 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. Speakers will be: Monday, Rev. Vardry Freeman, pastor of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Simpsonville; Tuesday, Rev. Norris Turner, pastor of Gethsemane Baptist Church, Blair; Wednesday, Bishop Emanuel Spearman, pastor of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Cross Hill. Public invited.

The Intercessory Prayer Ministry of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church will have "A Call to Pray" program Saturday, April 5, at 8 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to come participate.

The Sanders Gospel Chorus will celebrate its anniversary Sunday, April 6, at 4 p.m. at Island Creek Baptist Church. Dr. Nathan Craig, pastor of Walls Memorial Baptist Church, Shelby, will be the guest speaker.

Church news

The J.W. Sanders Gospel Chorus of Island Creek Baptist Church, 2112 Battleground Road, Cowpens, will celebrate its anniversary Sunday, April 6, at 4 p.m. The Rev. Nathaniel Craig, his choirs and congregation of Walls Memorial Baptist Church, Shelby, will be special guests.

Gateway Baptist Church, 2611 Gaffney Road, Mooresboro, N.C., will have revival services April 6-8. The Rev. Clay Earls, pastor of First Baptist Church, Bostic, N.C., will be the visiting evangelist. Special music will be presented each night. Sunday's singers will be Clay and Kim Earls. On Monday, special guests will be the adult choir of Lighthouse Baptist Church, Chesnee. Tuesday, music will be presented by the Broad River Crusaders. A nursery will be provided.

Red Cross news

The American Red Cross will hold classes and certification courses in first aid April 7-8 from 6-10 p.m. Classes offered will be in first aid, CPR, and infant and child CPR. The fee is $49. All classes will be at the ARC Service Center, 405 N. Logan St. Preregistration and pre-payment is required. To register call 864-489-6066.
