Wayne (Pink) Garvin
Retired from Duke Power and Freightliner

Robert Wayne Garvin, 59, of 341 Concord Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late Robert Pinkard Garvin and Millicent Pettit Garvin. Mr. Garvin was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Duke Power Company and Freightliner. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Jason Garvin and wife, Sherri, of Chesnee and William Eric Garvin of Gaffney; a brother, Mike Garvin of Greenville; two sisters, Cecilia Atkins and husband, Ralph, of Seneca and Janie Medley and husband, Reggie, of Gaffney; two granddaughters, Abby Garvin and Ashley Westbrooks; and his caregiver, Lisa Bell, of the home.

Cryptside services were held Thursday, April 3, at 2 p.m. in Frederick Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, conducted by Mr. Ashby Blakely.

Visitation was held Thursday, April 3, from 12-1:45 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, S.C. 29342; or to ALS Research, c/o Carolinas Medical Center, P.O. Box 32861, Charlotte, N.C. 28323-2861.

The family will be at his residence.
