Miss Palmer, Mr. Meyer wed March 8

Shalonda Rachelle Palmer and John-Thomas Aaron Meyer exchanged marriage vows March 8, 2008, at Greater Buck Shoals Ministries in Mooresboro, N.C. The Rev. Troy E. McDowell officiated the 3 p.m. ceremony that was followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.
Music was provided by Troy McDowell Jr., pianist; Micah McDowell, vocalist; and Delila Battle, vocalist. Musical selections included "The Lord's Prayer" and "You Are My Ministry." A creative dance selection was performed by Cherry Posey just before the bride entered.
Escorted and given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white strapless organza A-line gown with a black band at the waist and an apron back trimmed with a black satin edge. Her double layered veil fell from a tiara adorned with pearls and she carried a bouquet of white and lilac roses accented with baby's breath and greenery.
The bride was attended by her friends, Kristyn Mullinax as maid of honor and Hollie Crosby and Kirby Valazquez as bridesmaids. They were attired in knee-length black dresses accented with purple sashes and carried bouquets of purple and white flowers.
Cadence Meyer, daughter of the bride and groom, and Hannah Tatum, cousin of the groom, were flower girls. They wore white sleeveless dresses printed with black flowers and circled with a black band at the waist. They carried baskets of white and lavender flower petals.
The groom was attended by his friends, James High as best man and Joshua Ruppe and Curtis Wray as groomsmen. Ushers were Jonathan Palmer, brother of the bride, and Terrell Burris, a friend of the couple.
Coordinators were Tammy Twitty of Gaffney and Judy Wilkerson of Rutherfordton, N.C.
The bride is the daughter of Melissa Palmer and John Rogers, both to Gaffney. Her grandparents are Eddie Coleman of Gaffney, the late Essie Palmer, the late Martha Sue Rogers and the late Julius Palmer. A 2002 graduate of Gaffney High School, she received a degree in chemistry from Converse College and is employed by Magnolia Finishing Plant in Blacksburg.
The groom is the son of Janie Meyer of Gaffney and Thomas Meyer of Medford, Oregon. He is the grandson of Martha Tatum of Gaffney and John and Marlene Meyer of Medford, Oregon. A 2002 graduate of Gaffney High School, he is employed by US Foodservice in Charlotte.
After a wedding trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., the couple will reside in Gaffney.
