Peggy B. Cook
Gaffney native

Peggy Ann Bridges Cook, 76, Webb City, Mo., passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008, at 5:10 a.m. in a local nursing center after a short illness.

Peggy was born Jan. 3, 1932 in Gaffney, S.C., daughter of the late Charles Bridges and Connie Price Bridges. She grew up in Gaffney and graduated in 1951 from Gaffney High School. On April 23, 1960, she married Johnnie A. Cook and the couple moved to Webb City in 1975. She had worked for the Salvation Army in various capacities for over 47 years, including case worker, secretary, and thrift store manager.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by eight brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her husband, Johnnie A. Cook; a son, Chuck Cook and wife, Dana, of Pittsburg, Kansas; a daughter, Lisa Broadwater and husband, Greg, of Webb City; grandchildren, Reana, Carie, Corey, Katie, Ballie, Stephanie and Chris; six great-grandchildren; a brother, C.T. Bridges of Gaffney; and several nieces and nephews, including Betty Bridges Childers and Linda Bridges.

Memorial services will be Monday, April 7, at 6 p.m. at Webb City Church of the Nazarene, 701 W. 10th, Webb City. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:30 p.m. until the hour of the service.

Another memorial service will be held at a later date in Gaffney.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army of Pittsburg, Kansas, or the American Cancer Society.
