'Week of the Young Child' being observed April 13-19 Crayons 2 Computers Child Care Center and the Cherokee County Childcare Directors Association ask Gaffney to come together for children during the Week of the Young Child, April 13-19. As part of the national Week of the Young Child celebrated across the country, South Carolina is honoring young children and all those who make a difference in their lives. "All young children need and deserve high-quality early learning experiences that will prepare them for life, and Gaffney has a great opportunity to do our part to help young children," said Diana Federico, co-owner of Crayons 2 Computers. Verlene Eaker, also a coowner of Crayons 2 Computers, added, "Week of the Young Child is time to recognize the importance of early learning for all young children and to bring Gaffney and the state together to help give all young children a great start." Crayons 2 Computers is hosting a week-long event filled with a balloon release, bake sale and art exhibit at their center at 428G Hyatt St. Week of the Young Child is an opportunity for early childhood programs across the country, including child care and Head Start programs, preschool and elementary schools, to hold activities to bring awareness to the needs of young children. Young children and their families depend on high-quality education and care, which help children get a great start and bring lasting benefits to Gaffney. Week of the Young Child is a time to recognize the importance of early learning and early literacy, and to celebrate the teachers and policies that bring early childhood education to young children. Crayons 2 Computers employs 13 early childhood professionals and the Cherokee County Childcare Directors Association has 42 childcare facilities countywide working together to improve professional practice and working conditions in early childhood education, and to build public support for highquality early childhood education programs. |
