The Fabulous Kays and Too Much Sylvia will be the concert lineup for this year's South Carolina Peach Festival.
The Fabulous Kays will perform an evening concert Saturday, June 21, to end an all-day Family Fun Fest in downtown Gaffney. A fireworks show will follow the concert.
The Fabulous Kays have been together since 1978. The band performs original tunes and songs from popular Motown, beach, and rhythmand blues artists.
They have performed in Monte Carlo, Hawaii, Las Vegas and Saint Thomas over the years.
Too Much Sylvia will headline the Peach Ball on Friday, June 27, at 7 p.m. at the Broad River Electric Co-Op auditorium. Too Much Sylvia plays rhythm-and-blues, beach and dance music.
"We are excited about this year's entertainment lineup," festival productions chairman Dennis Fowler said. "Both bands are high-energy, dynamic bands who perform music that will appeal to people of all ages."
The South Carolina Peach Festival will run from June 20-29.
The festival has undergone major changes in recent months, ranging from holding the festival in June for the first time to the absence of a large-venue event.
Sunny Slope Farms paid $41,300 last fall to buy out the final 14 years of the festival's long-term lease at the Orchard Park site. The festival will hold its events this year in downtown Gaffney and other venues such as Starmax Entertainment Center and Cherokee Speedway.
The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce will hold a kickoff party June 20 from 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event will include a peach dessert contest, barbecue lunch, ice cream, music and a festival preview by board members.
Many festival events will have a sports theme. The event schedule includes a softball tournament (June 21- 22), a pro/am bowling tournament at Starmax (June 27-28), a dirt race at Cherokee Speedway (June 26), a golf tournament (June 27), and a 3-on-3 basketball tournament June 28 at Limestone College.
Event times and ticket information will be announced at a later date.
