Quentine Bridges
Retired from Doran Mills

 
SHELBY - John Quentine Bridges, 89, 223 Flint Hill Church Road, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, in Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

A native of Cleveland County, Mr. Bridges served in the U. S. Army during World War II and retired from Doran Mills. He formerly worked for Milliken in Gaffney.

He was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church. Quentine had a passion for leather craft work, gardening, and cutting grass. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren

Mr. Bridges was preceded in death by his parents, Xenophon P. Bridges and Euzelia McCraw Bridges; a son, Jackie Q. Bridges and granddaughter, Aloma Michelle Melton.

Surviving are his wife, Morie Penson Bridges of the home; a son, Jim D. Bridges and wife, Aloma, of Shelby; a sister, Inez Greene of Shelby; a daughter, Linda Bridges Pierce and husband, Robert, of Gaffney; grandchildren, Chris Bridges of Shelby, Beth Pierce and fiance, Wyatt Hutchinson, of Spartanburg, John Bridges and wife, Jennie, of Lattimore, Phillip Bridges and wife, Kasie, of Shelby and Jason Pierce and wife, Billie, of Gaffney; great-grandchildren, Evie and Jason Pierce, Haley and Hunter Hutchinson, Kelly Melton, Dylan Bridges, Jena, Carson and Colby Bridges, and Ava Bridges; and great-greatgrandchildren, Aliyah Graham and Brett Graham.

 
Services will be held Friday, April 25, at 2 p.m. in Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Barry Miles. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6000 Fairview Road, Suite 200 Charlotte, N.C.; or Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Dr. Shelby, N.C. 28150

The family will be at the home at 223 Flint Hill Church Rd. Shelby, N.C. 28150
