CLOWN AROUND

Carson & Barnes Circus is in town today for two shows at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Orchard Park. The three-ring spectacle sets beneath one of the largest big top tents in the circus industry. The circus will benefit the Gaffney Rotary Club's scholarship program.

The ongoing concert series "Shindig at the Cabin" continues Friday night at the Michael Gaffney Cabin. The group The Near Misses is scheduled to perform from 6 until 8:30 p.m.

track. Events kick off at 7 p.m. Friday with performances by the Blacksburg High School and Gaffney High School marching bands. The Relay for Life wraps up with closing ceremonies at 7 a.m. Saturday.

PERUSE SOME ART

The Cherokee County Alliance of Visual Artists will hold its second annual "Art in the Park," a juried art show, in downtown Gaffney on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Artwork of all sorts will be on display, along with crafts. There also will be a performance by the jazz band the Calvin Edwards Trio.

HAVE SOME FUN

Blacksburg, CKC, Buffalo and Antioch Volunteer fire departments will hold a Family Fun Day on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department.

There will be free hot dogs, chips and drinks, a drawing for children's prizes and displays of firefighting and police equipment.

HELP FEED A NEIGHBOR

Residents who can spare some nonperishable food from their pantries can lend a helping hand by leaving those food items near their mail boxes on Saturday. The National Association of Letter Carriers is holding its annual "Stamp out Hunger" food drive. All of the food collected in Cherokee County will go to seven local charities and organizations.
