Robert (Bob) Duke

Robert Homer Duke, 66, of 3163 Old Georgia Hwy., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Columbia, he was the husband of Wanda Kay Pennington Duke and son of the late Robert H. Duke and Nelle Willis Duke. Mr. Duke graduated from the University of South Carolina and was employed by Bob Burnett Appliances. He was a member of New Harvest Church of God, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and Head Usher.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Robbie Duke of Colorado; a daughter, Dawn Johnstone of Raleigh, N.C.; two stepsons, Joey Byars and Alan Byars, both of Gaffney; two stepdaughters, Missy Hellums of San Antonio, Texas, and Teresa Randolph of Gaffney; 15 grandchildren, Andrew Johnstone, Patrick Johnstone, Brandon Duke, Collin Duke, Derek Byars, Dustin Byars, Michaela Byars, Preston Byars, Peyton Byars, Parker Byars, Kelby Randolph, Klayton Randolph, Kaylin Randolph, Morgan Hellums and Reagan Hellums.

Services will be held Friday, May 9, at 3 p.m. at New Harvest Church of God, conducted by Pastor Robert Wells and the Rev. Jim McClure. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was held Thursday, May 8, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to New Harvest Church of God (Sunday School Department), 120 Boiling Springs Hwy., Gaffney, S.C. 29341.

The family will be at the residence.
