ROOFTOP FIRE - A discarded cigarette was the likely cause of a small fire that broke out early Thursday evening on the rooftop of a Cherokee Avenue building that's being razed, according to Gaffney Fire Chief Nathan Ellis. The small fire at 1113 Cherokee Avenue was quickly extinguished by firefighters from the city's Station 10 headquarters and Station 15. The building being demolished is owned by J&M Doors and Glass, according to a demolition permit on the building.
