Thieves make off with $4,500 worth of metal from a Chesnee car lot

A metal thief or thieves damaged 10 cars on a Chesnee car lot recently while stealing catalytic converters.

According to a report from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone removed the catalytic converters from Whitey Greene's Truck Ranch on Rutherfordton Highway sometime between June 9 and June 12. Theft losses were estimated at $4,500 while an additional $400 in fence damage was reported.

Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the theft of a moped from a Walnut Hill Farm Road home on June 13.

According to a police report, the blue 2008 Marshin moped was taken from the basement of a home in the 200 block. The moped was valued at $1,200.

Gaffney Police Department is investigating a June 13 incident in which a 45-year-old city man was slashed in the head with a knife during a dispute with a 35-year-old woman.

According to an incident report, police were dispatched to Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard and West Fairview Street at about 10:50 a.m. to assist emergency medical providers.

The 45-year-old man told police he was having a verbal argument with the woman and that he pushed her to get her away from him.

He claimed the woman obtained a small silver pocket knife and struck him behind the ear.

A truck parked on Carson Drive sustained an estimated $3,000 in vandalism damage, according to a report from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

Sometime between midnight and 5 a.m. on June 14, an unknown person or persons damaged the front and rear bumpers, front fender and quarter panel, as well as the tires and rims of a 2006 Chevrolet Z-71 truck parked in the 400 block.

Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a June 14 incident in which a man allegedly fired two shots while making threats towards a woman.

The incident occurred between 5:38 a.m. and 6:18 a.m., according to a police report.

The man allegedly threatened to kill a 53-year-old woman and fired two shots, including one in the direction of the woman's home. Police said they recovered a spent shell casing from a 9 mm weapon at the scene. No arrest had been reported as of Sunday.

Three televisions were reported stolen following the burglary of a Darwin Road home, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

Sometime between June 6 and June 14, someone broke into the home in the 600 block and took a 47-inch flat screen television, a 32-inch television and a 13-inch television. The value of the stolen items was estimated at $4,000.

Nearly $800 in copper and scrap metal was reported stolen from a Regan Trail, Blacksburg, property on June 13.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, an unknown person took about $80 in copper from an outbuilding in the 100 block and about $700 in scrap metal from the yard.

Cherokee County Sheriff's office reported the arrest of four North Carolina residents on possession with intent to deliver marijuana charges following a June 12 traffic stop on Shelby Highway.

According to an incident report, an officer observed a vehicle pull into a church parking lot at about 3:40 a.m. on June 12 and initiated a stop.

After receiving allegedly conflicting stories from the occupants of the vehicle, the officer obtained permission to search and located 96.6 grams of suspected marijuana from under the hood of the vehicle, a set of scales under the vehicle's console as well as $872 in cash on one of the occupants.

Police said they arrested 26-year-old Adrian Gao Thor, 19-year-old A. Thor and 25- year-old Abraham Thor, all of Hickory, N.C., as well as 18- year-old Tong Yang, of Morganton, N.C.

Also in the vehicle was a 15-year-old juvenile.

Two guitars and a CD player were reported stolen from a Chesnee Highway home during a recent break-in, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. Sometime between June 10 and June 12, someone broke into a home in the 200 block and took a burgundy Peavey guitar; a yellow Ibanez 5- string bass guitar and a CD player of unknown make. Theft losses were estimated at $750.
