Man gets 10 years

A 25-year-old Elgin man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday in Cherokee County General Sessions Court after pleading guilty to the Jan. 23, 2007 robbery of a Providence Road convenience store.

Isaac Oneal Williams, of Owl Lane, entered his plea before Circuit Court Judge Mark Hayes, who imposed the 10-year prison sentence and gave Williams credit for all time served since his July 2007 arrest.

Williams is one of two men charged with the robbery.

The Gaffney Police Department had alleged Isaac Williams and Timonio Sentell Williams, then 27, of Laurens, robbed the Corner Stop No. 2 Convenience Store. Police claimed Isaac Williams walked into the store and fired a shot from a handgun into the ceiling before demanding money. Timonio Williams, whose case has not come up yet before the court, was accused by police of driving the getaway car.
