Meetings

Tuesday Woman's Club will meet on Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. in the parlor at Limestone Presbyterian Church. Hostesses are Sharon Thompson, Pam Oliver and Nanilou Cooper. Members are reminded to bring an unwrapped toy for the Salvation Army.

The Gaffney Branch American Association of University Women will meet Monday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, 308 College Drive. The meeting is open to the public. Dr. Elizabeth York, chairman of the Music Education and Music Therapy Departments at Converse College, will be the speaker. Anyone with an associate or baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university is eligible for membership in AAUW.

Bazaar

Antioch Baptist Church will have its annual bazaar at the Antioch Community Center on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 8 a.m.- noon. There will be gravy biscuits, coffee and jelly for breakfast and a bake sale, crafts and door prizes.

Senior Center events

A painting class will be held Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Gaffney Senior Center. The artist is Brian Benson and the cost is $25. If you or someone you know is interested and want to learn to paint, call Joan Hall, 489-3868, to register and receive a supply list.

Church news

Kirby Memorial Baptist Church will have a pancake breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 8-11:30 a.m. with proceeds going to a South Asia mission trip. Adult plates are $6; children (8 and under), $3; and children under 3 are free.

Oakdale Baptist Church, 231 Oakdale Road, Cowpens, will have a huge sale Saturday, Nov. 8, from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. There will be gifts, decorations, crafts, jewelry, and news and "good as new" toys. All proceeds will go to Christmas gifts for underprivileged children.

Park Hills Baptist Church, 1100 Leadmine Road (intersection of Thompson Street and Leadmine Road), will honor veterans during its 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Nov. 9. A color guard from the Gaffney S.C. National Guard, Company B, 1st - 118 Combined Arms Battalion, will be on hand to present the colors and veterans from all branches of the United States military will be recognized. Pastor Larry Sanders and the congregation of Park Hill welcome the community to this special service.

Shady Grove Baptist Church will host a Pure 'N Heart children's choir workshop Nov. 8 from 10:30-1:30 p.m. and concert on Nov. 9 at 5:08 p.m. The workshop and concert are under the leadership of Alphaeus Anderson of Spartanburg. Children from the Pure 'N Heart choir clusters will be attending from South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. There will be food, fun, games and prizes. There is no charge to participate.
