POLICE REPORT

A car was broken into on Gardner Street on Dec. 30.

According to the Gaffney Police Department, someone smashed a front window with a brick on a vehicle parked in the 600 block. The thief or thieves stole a Dual-brand CD player from the car and also vandalized the paint with a key-like object. Theft and damage losses are estimated at about $900.

The Gaffney Police Department reported the arrest of a 29-year-old Hardin Drive man Dec. 30 for discharging a firearm in city limits.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched to 418 Hardin Drive and were told Douglas Scott Rising had fired four shots from a handgun near the side of his home. Police said they found four shell casings at the scene.

A vehicle was vandalized in the 100 block of Sunset Drive, according to the Gaffney Police Department.

A silver Chrysler Crossfire sustained about $2,000 in malicious damage some time between 4 p.m. Dec. 29 and 7:30 a.m. Dec. 30, according to the police report.

A van reported stolen from Chesnee was recovered Dec. 30.

According to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the 1998 Dodge van was discovered in a wooded area off Sunny Slope Drive. The vehicle is valued at about $1,000.

A scooter was reported stolen on Freezer Street.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, a Peace Sports scooter was taken from the 100 block between 10 p.m. Dec. 29 and 7:15 a.m. Dec. 30. The scooter is valued at about $850.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of jewelry from a Foster Road home.

According to a police report, about $1,500 worth of jewelry was taken from the home in the 100 block at about 3 a.m. on Dec. 31. A suspect was listed in the report but no charges had been reported as of Jan. 1.

A wallet was reported stolen from a car on Black Road in Blacksburg.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone entered a car owned by a Sparta, N.J., woman while it was parked in the 100 block between 11 p.m. Dec. 30 and 11 a.m. Dec. 31. The black-colored wallet contained cash and personal possessions valued at about $500 combined.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the recovery of a burned vehicle on Oakdale Road.

According to a police report, a 1997 Ford work van owned by a Rock Hill man was found in a wooded area off the gravel portion of Oakdale Road on Dec. 24 at about 10:30 a.m. The vehicle is valued at about $8,000.

A windshield was smashed on Goldmine Springs Road on Dec. 28.

According to a report from the Cherokee County Sheriff's office, a witness saw two unknown males near the car owned by a Blacksburg man at about 6:45 p.m. One of the males jumped on the hood and kicked in the windshield while the other tried to open the car door. Damage is estimated at about $500.

A deer stand and trail camera were reported stolen from a Goucher School Road property recently.

The two items, valued at a combined $235, were taken from property in the 1400 block between Dec. 26 and Dec. 28.

A hunter looking for game in the area of Little Hope Road and Wilford Road in Blacksburg on Dec. 29 instead found a stolen vehicle.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the 2006 Hyundai vehicle recovered from the woods was owned by a Charlotte, N.C., woman. The vehicle is valued at $14,000.
