Roger J. Blackwell

SPARTANBURG - Roger J. Blackwell, 47, of 1021 Hardee Court, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Barnwell County Hospital.

Born May 9, 1961, in Cherokee County, he was the son of Margaret Mullinax Blackwell Allman of Gaffney and the late James Blackwell. He was employed by Pet Dairy.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Sherry Blackwell; two sons, Jamie Blackwell of Ellenboro, N.C., and Grant Blackwell of the home; a daughter, Amber Abbott of the home; a brother, Johnny Blackwell of Gaffney; three sisters, Wanda Ragstole, Charlotte Holcombe and Tammy Ramsey, all of Gaffney; his step-father, Jimmy Allman of Gaffney; and a step-brother, Bud Allman of Gaffney.

Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, at 2 p.m. at Davis Memorial Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Charles Hall. Burial will be in Abingdon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Cherokee County S.C.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 2, from 6-8 p.m. at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation of South Carolina Inc., 500 Taylor St., Suite 101, Columbia, SC 29201.
