ITEMS FOR YOUR... SCRAPBOOK

BY JACK ALLISON

The article in our Scrapbook today is from the collection of Scrapbook editor Jack Allison. This inspiring poem first appeared in The Ledger many years ago and was written by Ledger founder, Ed H. DeCamp. Mr. DeCamp was the grandfather of former Ledger publisher Louis Sossamon and greatgreat grandfather of present publisher, Cody Sossamon.

- Jack

SEASON'S GREETINGS

Safely through storms of another year

Thou has brought us, and we have no fear.

As we greet the dawn of Forty-three.

We look forward to Thy great decree.

With prayers that strife and war will cease.

Bring good will to men, and on earth peace.

May Christmas Joy attend everyone,

and faith be steadfast till vict'ry's won.

- Mr. and Mrs. Ed H. DeCamp * ** Best wishes for you and yours, long life, peace, happiness and prosperity. Permit me to appropriate the following from the pen of Mr. Marcus Filley: I said to a man who stood at the gate - The gate of the coming year: "Give me a light That I safely thread into the dark and unknown lands; Give me a light to banish fear Take from my heart This haunting dred." He said to me, This man that stood At the gate of the coming year: "Go into the dark and unknown land and place in God's your trembling hand. Far better than the light of day. Far safer than any man-known way." Said the man that stood at the open gate The gate of the coming year. May blessings attend you, and life's pathway be strewn with fragrant flowers.
