Blacksburg out of sync in non-region loss to Spartanburg Christian

By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Sports Editor larry@gaffneyledger.com

Blacksburg felt the loss of shooting guard Josh Elmore in its game with Spartanburg Christian on Friday.

"We just weren't in sync offensively," said Blacksburg coach Travis Miller after his team's 72-48 loss.

Need some proof: The Wildcats committed 20 turnovers in the first half alone.

"We didn't have Josh Elmore and we had to move some people around," Miller said.

Elmore has an ankle sprain and it's not known when he will return to the lineup.

Elmore's injury has created playing time for former jayvee player Brandon Dawkins, who had 11 points on Friday. Jonathan Gelok also had his best game of the season.

Spartanburg Christian led 15-8 at the end of the first quarter and were never threatened.
