Former Indian named to all-conference team

STAFF REPORTS

Gaffney native Trevon Greene was recently named all-conference for the Mid- State Football Association in Iowa.

Greene, an outside linebacker, was the leading tackler for William Penn University in Oskelosa, Iowa. The redshirt junior was a fullback and linebacker on the 2003 Gaffney High state championship team before graduating high school in 2005.

Greene had 93 tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception this past season. He helped William Penn (7-4 overall record) advance to the conference championship where they were defeated 34-31 on a last second field goal.

"I appreciate the honor. It was a lot of hard work," Greene said. "I go back to school Sunday to start classes and winter conditioning. I think we have a good chance to win the conference this year."

A win in the championship game would earn William Penn the conference's automatic berth in the playoffs.
