Anna Potter Carpenter

Retired from Carolina Freight in Cherryville, N.C.

SHELBY, N.C. - Anna Lee Potter Carpenter, 74, of Shelby, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2008, at Carolina Care of Cherryville.

Born in Gaffney, she was retired from Carolina Freight in Cherryville and was a lifelong member of Landmark Baptist Church.

Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, John Selinger Carpenter; her parents, William Samuel and Geneva Godfrey Potter; two brothers, Bobby Potter and Joe Potter; and a sister, Ida J. Hawkins

Surviving are a son, Richard Clary and wife, Doris, of Kings Mountain; a daughter, Amy Carpenter Randolph and husband, Bill, of Shelby; two sisters, Deane Potter Wallace and Pauline Potter Hammett and husband, Lamar, all of Gaffney; grandchildren, Rick Clary of Charlotte and Ella and Sel Randolph of Shelby; many loving nieces and nephews; and special friends, Judy and J.T. Smith.

The family extends special thanks to the staff at Carolina Care of Cherryville .

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 6 p.m. in Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Allen Davis. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
