Lost Penny Day

Lost Penny Day is held each year on Abraham Lincoln's birthday, Feb. 12. This year is special because it is the 200th birthday of Lincoln. The purpose of the day is to collect pennies that have been forgotten - in pockets, car floors, sofas, etc. - and to donate them to a local charity. This will be the seventh Lost Penny Day at the Senior Centers of Cherokee County. The organization is asking everyone

to find lost pennies and bring them to the Gaffney or Blacksburg senior centers by Feb. 27. All donations will be used for the home-delivered meal program. Approximately 24,000 hot meals were served to seniors in the county last year in addition to bag lunches for holidays, snow bags for bad weather days and goody bags during the holidays. To help a senior adult receive meals each week look for those pennies and turn them in. For more information, call Leslie Pearson, 487-2725.
